Each episode of 1950s TV show The Millionaire began with Michael Anthony (right) presenting, to a series of unsuspecting ordinary people, "a cashier's
check for one million dollars from an anonymous donor."   The donor, present on the show only in voice-over, was John Beresford Tipton.
