Thanks to our friend Ken Karlan, we were escorted onto the field during batting practice. We stood just a few feet behind home plate, behind the batting cage. Hannah wrote in her notebook: "Seeing the NY Mets, their shiny blue uniforms, sparkle and glimmer from the 95 degree sun. There are balls flying and the grass is as green as the tarps for batting practice on the field. The voices surround me of various players and media. Clicks and flashes from the noisy reporters' cameras, the chance of a lifetime seeing the players up close and being on the field."

Ben had Cairo and Cameron sign his hat, and Carlos Beltran sign his baseball glove.
Then we had dinner at the Diamond Club. And then we took our seats in a wonderful field box on the first base side.
