Lines of Regression:
Paintings and Drawings by Paul Fabozzi
October 17 - November 16, 2007

Lines of Regression poster

"As the information about every conceivable part of our waking lives from every angle mounts and the structures of organizing this data become more complex, the body retreats. This work mirrors that retreat but at the same time celebrates what, for me, is the cornerstone of being--the simple act of breathing as I move through space."
- Paul Fabozzi

Lines of Regression, a series of paintings and drawings by Paul Fabozzi, focuses on themes of spatial perception and interpretive mapping of space. Fabozzi's work translates objective data from a series of walks through New York City -- pedometer readings, distance and time measurements -- into graphical forms in a two-dimensional field. The artist encodes his own particular sensory impressions from his walks into each piece, imbuing them with a nostalgia and feeling of return. The opening included a discussion between the artist and poet and Parkett editor Jeremy Sigler, moderated by curator Kaegan Sparks.
