Bob Cobbing died in London at 3 a.m. on September 29th. 2002 after a short
time in Intensive Care. This page is simply to note his death; others, closer to
Bob, will no doubt put something better together.

For almost half a century Bob Cobbing was a central figure in what is ridiculously
still called, in his own country, "alternative" culture. Cinema, theatre, music,
performance, poetry (especially Sound Poetry, for which he was internationally famous);
all benefitted from his energies. His encouragement and example kick-started many
artists' careers, and his Writers' Forum publishing series was perhaps unique
in its open generosity to those beginning to write.

Bon Voyage!
