This morning was the first for several weeks ( heavy rain, visitors, mechanical problems) I’ve been able to go for an early morning bike ride.

On June 25 he applied to join a private gun range, the $250 Lead Valley Range, in Byers, Colorado. Glenn Rotkovich, the owner, called to invite him for an orientation and got through to a “bizarre” voicemail message. “Looking back, and if I’d seen the movies, maybe I’d say it was like the Joker,” Mr Rotkovich said.

It’s dark at the bottom of the barrel.

Nobody Expects The Olympic Delivery Authority

Filed under: — site admin @ 7:43 am

I don’t get out much these days so I’ve been wondering about an odd image I occasionally see showing London being fucked in the arse.

Perhaps it relates to this:

Wearing purple caps and tops, the experts in trading and advertising working for the Olympic Delivery Authority (ODA) are heading the biggest brand protection operation staged in the UK. Under legislation specially introduced for the London Games, they have the right to enter shops and offices and bring court action with fines of up to £20,000.
Olympics organisers have warned businesses that during London 2012 their advertising should not include a list of banned words, including “gold”, “silver” and “bronze”, “summer”, “sponsors” and “London”.
Publicans have been advised that blackboards advertising live TV coverage must not refer to beer brands or brewers without an Olympics deal, while caterers and restaurateurs have been told not to advertise dishes that could be construed as having an association with the event.
At the 40 Olympics venues, 800 retailers have been banned from serving chips to avoid infringing fast-food rights secured by McDonald’s.

Like Lightning?

Lightning captured at 7,207 images per second from ZT Research on Vimeo.

A downward lightning negative ground flash captured at 7,207 images per second. A negative stepped leader emerges from the cloud and connects with the ground forming a return stroke.

Downward Positive Cloud-to-Ground Lightning Flash Triggers Upward Positive Leaders from Towers from ZT Research on Vimeo.

A positive cloud-to-ground lightning flash triggers upward positive lightning leaders to form from three television towers in Rapid City, South Dakota. Filmed at 9,000 images per second, the video shows positive leaders descending from the thunderstorm with one connecting to ground. The resulting return stroke creates a fast electric field change which causes three tall television towers to initiate upward positive lightning leaders. Fast, short duration, bidirectional/bipolar recoil leaders form on positive leader branches that become cutoff from their main channel.

Reprise

You know how it is…. you make a link to a site, or take the feed: then you check it less frequently until it blips out of attention. My son Ben sent me a link just now to a piece from last month by Diamond Geezer that reminded me I’d not read him for a long while. Yes, he’s still in my link list. And always worth reading — particularly now if you want an accurate sense of what the Corporate Olympics is doing to London (and you should: it’ll be your future). You can run down the links, or just click here.
